The Cologne Zoo, founded in 1860, is one of the oldest and most popular Zoos in Germany. Its present appearance is the result of a long development. About 10,000 animals from more than 700 different species in the Zoological Garden of Cologne at home. The current main attractions is the elephant park, opened in 2004, Europe’s caused by the birth of their first baby elephants Marlar Cologne in April 2006 a stir. In addition to the modern animal facilities such as the elephant park which opened in 2000, or the rain forest house, built according to the latest zoological standards, visitors can also visit the Cologne Zoo still houses historical animal. For this, the Monkey Rock or the old elephant house belong in the Moorish style.
