Ideas for Christmas parties in Cologne
Covid-19 hat die Organisation von gelungenen Christmas parties not made any easier. But with more and more vaccinated people and more and more experience with successful hygiene concepts, there should be nothing standing in the way of a nice company Christmas party or club Christmas party this year.
And with a bit of creativity, good ideas for your Christmas party and not expensive at all. The important thing is not to let the Christmas grumps at the office put you off.
Here are our tips and ideas for your Christmas party:
- Start planning early and communicate the date by October at the latest, so your guests can block it in their diaries in good time.
- First, clarify your budget with your boss. Budget security provides a drinks package that you agree with your venue, caterer or restaurant of choice. Let your guests know which drinks are included in the package and for how long it is valid. Don't forget, the tax office likes to celebrate too...
- Don't reveal all the details in advance. A winter mulled wine reception on the terrace with fire pits will be even better if it's a surprise.
- A gift that perhaps everyone needs: visit a Christmas tree vendor on your way to your celebration venue. Anyone who wishes can choose a small tree and take it with them straight away. If the budget doesn't allow for this idea, organise a small Christmas quiz and the three winners can choose a tree with the advice of their colleagues.
- A fitting theme increases the fun. You could communicate a few days before the Christmas party that this year's party is themed: Après-Ski or 80s (we'll organise - on request - a suitable DJ). It's important that all guests dress appropriately (we know a thing or two about that in Cologne).
- Secret Santa involves everyone. Provide as precise hints as possible about which gifts are funny and nice. Of course, you can also organise a „white elephant“ gift exchange. Then everyone wraps something they really want to get rid of at home. However, in our experience, a thoughtfully chosen little gift is better for a good atmosphere. So, everyone brings a nicely wrapped present. These are displayed on a table and then dice are rolled. Anyone who rolls doubles gets to choose a gift (and of course, they can't roll again). When all the gifts have been distributed, it's time for present opening, and perhaps a gift swap.
- Communicate a start AND an end date. There's definitely something to the theory: you should stop when it's at its best (with the PhiLeRo team, you could negotiate for the BAR to remain open afterwards).
- Ensure all guests have a safe journey home. Or even better, simply book an extra hotel bed. Nothing usually happens when using a lift. And a breakfast together will definitely round off a successful Christmas party.
