The Cologne Zoo is one of the oldest and most popular zoos in Germany.

Around 10,000 animals from more than 750 different species are home to the cathedral city's zoological gardens. In addition to modern animal enclosures like the Hippodom, Elephant Park, or Rainforest House, which were built to the latest zoological standards, visitors to Cologne Zoo can also still visit historic animal houses. It is not solely for this reason that Cologne Zoo has developed into a popular destination for young and old in its over 150-year history. Experiencing animals and imparting knowledge: Nature and species conservation is clearly one of the focal points, which, in addition to the experiential offerings for visitors of all ages, is increasingly being dedicated to at Cologne Zoo. Not only are the animals shown, but above all, connections are presented that illustrate the importance and complexity of the respective ecosystems.

New at Cologne Zoo

The Clemenshof, a typical Bergisches farm, is run today as a sideline by many people in rural areas. Here, species-appropriate animal husbandry and the joy of animals are paramount. Chickens, pigs, cows and sheep are the farm's livestock. At the Clemenshof, you can not only get very close to the animals, but the use of animals, alongside their respectful keeping, is also a topic. In particular, city dwellers should regain a conscious connection to the source of their food products.
